Pastors Wives Association Celebrates 5th Anniversary

The Pastors' Wives Association of the Apostolic Church – Ghana has celebrated its 5th anniversary in Accra. The anniversary which was initially characterized with various activities was climaxed during this year's Pastors' Wives Conference. The celebration was held on the theme, “Women in Ministry”.It was purposed towards addressing various issues concerning women, especially they, as Pastors' wives in Ministry and as the Pastors' wives in the Church today.
Various speakers were engaged to speak in order to address the different challenges concerning the theme. Apostle Christian Kwesi Nartey, the National Superintendent of the Women’s Movement of the church, was optimistic that the conference would help them in accordance with the will of God and to overcome their individual and collective challenges. It was also meant to be a time of spiritual development as well as teaching the word of God.
Speaking on the theme for the programme, Deaconess Comfort Abebrese, First Lady of the Apostolic Church - Ghana reiterated the need for them to help their husbands to effectively deliver in their ministries.
She urged them to stand firm on their feet and unearth the talents God gave them and use them unto the glory of God. She also stressed on the need for them to be very prayerful in order to face the challenges of their ministry adding that prayer is the heart beat of the Pastor's wife today. She also challenged them to do something for God to honour them.
Apostle Ebenezer Nsesa Abrebrese, President of the Church who congratulated the Association on their Anniversary, mentioned that the theme was to address how they, as women, can also make great impact in the church and in the society. He urged the Pastors' wives to remember that these are times when they need to please and fear God the more because God is yearning for people who fear Him. He urged them to let their light shine everywhere they find themselves and also concentrate on the delivery of God – sent messages. He also reminded them of t he need to fast and pray, just like Hannah did before the Lord.
The former first Lady of the Church, Deaconess Rebecca Adotey reiterated the need for them to be of good conduct in all endeavors – in speech, policies and lifestyles. She also stressed the need for them to be able to single themselves out of the lot and make a difference as women in ministry.
Special guests who graced the occasion included Mrs. Gladys Frimpong Manso and Mrs. Veronica Ghartey, the President and Secretary of the Ministers' Wives Association of the Assemblies of God Church respectively. They commended the Apostolic Church – Ghana for pursuing a good cause of having an association for the Pastors' wives. They also congratulated the Association on the occasion of their 5th Anniverasry.
Other facilitators at the conference were Apostle Peter Okoh Mankralo, Vice President of the Church, Apostle Abraham Ofori – Kuragu, General Secretary, Apostle Jonas Philip Offei, Kaneshie Area Superintendent, Deaconess Beatrice Ofori-Kuragu and Deaconess (Dr.) Helen Tettey.

The Association is an attempt to mobilize spouses of Ascension Ministers in the church to play very useful roles in the church. With the expertise of Deaconess Rebecca Adotey, and under her leardership as the first lady of the church, between 2006 and 2011, she teamed up with other Pastors' wives who put together their ideas of mobilizing all Pastors' wives to function in such a way that would augment the duties of their spouses. With this vision, the Pastors' Wives Association was formed in 2008.
