Sicknesses, losses, crosses, anxieties and disappointments seem absolutely needful to keep us humble, watchful and spiritually–minded. They are as needful as the pruning knife to the vine and the refiner’s furnace to the gold.
They are not pleasant to the flesh and blood because they cause us pain and discomfort. We do not like them and often do not see their meaning and benefits to our lives. In most cases, we immediately feel the losses more than the lessons and the pains rather than the gains.
But in latter days we shall find out that, all of them work together for our good and growth even on this earth as well as when we get to heaven. Let these thoughts abide in our minds, if we love growth in grace.
When days of darkness come upon us, let us not count it a strange thing. Rather let us remember that lessons are learned on such days, which would never have been learned in sunshine. Let us remember that, mostly, great and good things never come to us in good times but during our darkest and perilous moments.
Let us say to ourselves, ‘This also is for my profit, that I may be a partaker of God’s holiness.
God always allow such troubles by the power of His providence, sovereignty and love. And so He guides us through it them all. Say to yourself “I am in God’s best school”. He will use this life’s challenges to prune and purge me so that I will bear much fruits.
Even the Church experiences power and holiness during its darkest moments and times of persecution.
Keep calm beloved, for all things are working for your good and growth.
