It was a truly joyous and memorable occasion as grateful hearts—young and old, men and women, family, friends, and well-wishers—gathered at the Rev. John Annan Adotey Memorial Temple of The Apostolic Church-Ghana, Kwashieman Central Assembly, to celebrate the Retirement and Appreciation Service of Pastor Professor Alexander Kwesi Kyei Edwards. The atmosphere was so vibrant and uplifting that many aptly described it as a “mini APOSA Camp Meeting.”
Until his retirement, Pastor Professor Edwards served as the National Superintendent of the APOSA Campus Ministry, a vision he helped nurture and establish in 1984 on the University of Science and Technology (UST) campus alongside Brother Abraham Ofori-Kuragu and later Brother Aaron Ami-Narh. As the first National Leader and President of APOSA, he earned the affectionate title “Ebusuapanyin” of APOSA in recognition of his pioneering leadership and invaluable contributions to the growth, sustainability, and impact of the ministry.
In his tribute, the President of The Apostolic Church-Ghana, Apostle Dr. Aaron Ami-Narh, described Prof. Edwards as the ideal spearhead for the APOSA vision at its inception, highlighting his unconventional, resilient, and courageous leadership style. Overflowing with gratitude to God for the life and ministry of Professor Edwards, he commended his labour of love and unwavering dedication to the work of God.
Delivering the sermon, Apostle Ami-Narh encouraged all present to cultivate the virtues of patience, hope, humility, wisdom, and trust in God throughout life’s journey. Drawing from the theme, “6 p.m. Shall Surely Come,” he reminded the congregation that times, seasons, and circumstances inevitably change, and that believers must remain steadfast in faith through every stage of life.
Called into the pastorate in 2007 and ordained in 2009, Pastor Professor Edwards faithfully served in the Toledo, Ohio Assembly in the United States, the Odorkor District in the Kaneshie Area, and the Bethel and K2 Districts in the Kasoa Nyanyano Area. He also served on several national committees, including the Apostolic University Committee and the Literature Committee.
Indeed, Professor Edwards has secured a distinguished place in the annals of the Church through his exemplary leadership, scholarly achievements, and enduring impact on countless lives. He has faithfully raised foundations for future generations and leaves behind a remarkable legacy of service, mentorship, and devotion to God.
Truly, here stands a faithful soldier and servant of God.
Ayekoo, Pastor Professor Alexander Kwesi Kyei Edwards, for an endearing legacy of leadership, scholarship, and Kingdom service.
